eHealth Programme

Looking to the success of the eHealth implementation, Slovak Republic belongs to the lower ranked EU countries. Lag of Slovakia comparing to top eHealth activity countries is estimated to be 7 – 10 years (i.e. top EU countries were in the same position like Slovakia is now seven to ten years ago). Slovakia is trying to decrease the gap through national eHealth Implementation Programme (PieH). In 2008 its preparation starts at the Ministry of Health SR with the first document “eHealth Strategic Goals” accepted by Government in 16.7.2008.

eHealth Implementation Programme will be realized in several steps till 2018. Currently, first phase of key project eSO1 is realized aimed to fast deployment of benefits to praxis in the fields of Electronic Health Record, Electronic Prescription and Medication, Electronic Booking and National Health Portal.

If the Programme will be realized in contextual, financial and time frame of accepted eHealth Strategic Goals, we expect to decrease the gap of Slovak Republic comparing to other EU countries to 3 – 4 years till 2015.
